Fire Extinguishers

A fire extinguisher is an active fire protection device used to extinguish or control small fires, often in emergency situations. Fire extinguisher consists of a hand-held cylindrical pressure vessel containing an agent which can be discharged to extinguish a fire. Fire extinguishers are divided into portable (handheld) and cart-mounted, also called mobile extinguishers.

Types of Fire Extinguishers

Carbon Dioxide (CO2) Fire Extinguishers are extremely versatile and are designed to tackle Class B flammable liquid and Class C electrical fire hazards. They are ideally suited for indoor applications where delicate equipment or processes require a clean extinguishing agent. Carbon Dioxide is an effective and clean gaseous extinguishing agent that does not leave any residue to clean up.

Application: Computer areas, Sever Rooms, Control Rooms, Electrical Panel rooms Generator house, Chemical, Manufacturing/Refinery Plant, Oil Rigs, Rail Yards, Warehouses, Construction sites, parking garages, Airport, Boat & Docks Laboratories.

Dry Chemical Powder extinguishers are characterized by their high performance, simple method of operation and rapid fire knock down capability. They are suitable for tackling Class A, B & C fires involving freely burning materials, petrol, oil, paints, thinner, flammable gases & electrical equipment. They are ideal for vehicle & marine risks.

Application: Houses, Office Buildings, Farms, Wood working area , Electrical Panel rooms Generator house, Chemical, Manufacturing/Refinery Plant, Rail Yards, Warehouses, Construction sites, parking garages & Airport.

Automatic Dry Chemical Powder fire extinguishers are well suited for oil furnaces, paint spray booths, flammable liquid storage areas, electrical hazard areas etc. It’s ready for immediate risk protection and there is no need for piping. Different sizes are available for to protect various sizes of hazard area. Optionally, the units can be released manually by electrical actuator connected to a Manual Release Unit.

Note: Not recommended for use on expensive and delicate equipments like computer etc.

Foam extinguishers are multipurpose, ideal for fires involving volatile liquids and freely burning materials such as paper, cloth, wood and furniture. They are Suitable for Class A and Class B fire risk. The Blanketing effect of AFFF provides a swift fire fighting action by cutting the atmospheric oxygen connection with the fire, thereby, preventing the re-ignition of flames.

Note: Foam extinguishers are not suitable for fire involving electrical risk.

Application: Petrol Stations, /Refinery Plant, Oil Tank Farm etc.

Clean Agent Fire Extinguishers have effective extinguishing action, environmentally acceptable and excellent alternative for Halon 1211. FE-36 is a non corrosive, electrically non conductive and free of residue. It is ideally suited for protecting high value equipment.

Application: Computers, Telephone, Switchgears & Sensitive data storage.

Water Fire Extinguishers are characterized by their high performance, simple method of operation ideal for tackling Class A fires involving freely burning materials such as paper, cloth, wood and furniture. They are ideal for vehicle & marine risks. Application: Schools, theaters, dry goods store, apartments and office. Note: Water Fire extinguishers are not suitable for fire involving electrical risk.

Potable Fire Extinguishers are the most common type of fire extinguisher. They are hand held, portable and used in most commercial buildings to extinguish small fires in emergency situations. Portable fire extinguishers contain various types of fire fighting agents including water, foam, dry chemical powder, carbon dioxide and other gases.

Mobile Fire Extinguishers are fire extinguishers mounted onto trolleys for transportation. Mobile fire extinguishers are bigger than portable fire extinguishers so are fitted onto trolleys to be deployed at the scene of a fire. Mobile fire extinguishers are used at petrol service stations and on building sites where more extinguishing is needed.
